Contrasts

Matt's folks are here, and we're having a lovely time with them. So far we've done the Holocaust Museum, the World War II Memorial, the Zoo, and the National Cathedral. I mapped our route yesterday, and we walked 10 miles! Matt and I work the next two days, and then we have a couple more days off with the parents. Shenandoah and Assateague are on the agenda for Wednesday and Thursday. Then Friday they'll head out. A week goes fast around here!

It's a little tough to be so recreational when Cedar Rapids and Iowa City are still in very grim shape, but everyone I've talked to is safe for now and nobody I know has been evacuated. The aftermath of all this may end up being the hardest part.

And finally, Kathleen is home from the hospital, and we're hoping for a recovery that's as quick and minimally painful as possible. Any advice on surviving bedrest?
