Cherry Blossom Time

Our take on the annual blossoming of the cherry trees in downtown DC? Pretty, but after all the hubbub about them, overall kind of underwhelming. When the whole of northern Virginia (and much of DC, too) is filled with more kinds of flowering trees than you can keep track of, one concentrated segment (even if it is around the Tidal Basin) just doesn't knock your socks off. We were glad to have seen it, though, even if just to decide for ourselves that the hype may not be warranted. Here are some pictures from that experience; taken at dusk, the lighting is kind of weird, but you get the general idea.
